Journalism, fiction, ad copy, video scripts and more—name a type of writing and chances are good that Robbie has done it. A graduate of the University of Alberta, where he studied English and creative writing, Robbie has extensive experience as a writer and editor.
After working as a freelance writer for a few years, Robbie joined Venture Publishing as an editor and contributed his talents to magazines for the Stollery Children’s Hospital, United Way, University of Alberta and Winspear Centre, to name a few. He then became associate editor at the company’s flagship magazine, Alberta Venture.
Robbie’s writing has been published in Eighteen Bridges, Alberta Views, Avenue Edmonton and more. Prior to joining g[squared] in 2019, he also worked as a copywriter at Champion Petfoods and DDB Edmonton. Robbie has won awards for his journalism (from the Alberta Magazine Awards), academic writing (from the University of Alberta) and copywriting (from the Ad Club of Edmonton and the Anvil Awards).
These days Robbie’s life revolves mostly around writing and reading, but he used to write music for a small record label in Vancouver and can still play a Jackson RR3 guitar like nobody’s business.
